LMS100 Red RTV Hi-Temp 100% Silicone is a gel-like, one component material that cures to a tough, rubbery solid when exposed to moisture in the air. Since it will not flow under its own weight, it can be applied on sidewall joints and surfaces or overhead without sagging, slumping or running off. It will adhere to clean metal, most types of non-oily wood, vulcanized silicone rubber, silicone resins, natural and sythetic fibers, ceramic, paper, as well as many painted and plastic surfaces.
Resistance to Temperatures Extremes-LMS100 Red RTV Hi-Temp 100% Silicone adhesive/sealant offers both extreme low and high temperature resistance properties. It remains flexible to -60 deg C(-75 deg F) and although modulus increases, does not become brittle. This product will also withstand high temperatures up to 280 deg C(500 deg F) during continuous operation, and up to 315 deg C(600 deg F) for short periods.
Chemical Resistance-LMS100 Red RTV Hi-Temp adhesive/sealant offers good resistance to most solvents and oils, organic and inorganic chemicals; however, it is not recommended for continuous use with gasoline or fuel oil. Swell or degradation may occur with these and certain other hydrocarbon materials. Chemical compatibility should be tested for each application considered.
As a flexible adhesive:
Bond dissimilar materials, bond mirrors in place, Fasten glass to metal in electronic assemblies, mount fiberglass components such as golfcart bodies, attach signs to exterior walls, fasten & repair electrical insulation, adhere fabricated gaskets to machinery, anchor windows in freezer doors & industrial ovens, repair wood, rubber, leather and most plastics, fasten glass covers to meters and other equipment, cement boat trim, decorative moldings & name plates, use a resilient temperature compensating adhesive to small lens assemblies used high temperature, seal & secure dielectric shelves in microwave ovens.
Applying the Materials: Tack-Free Time:
LMS100 Red RTV Hi-Temp adhesive/sealant is supplied ready-to-use. The cure progresses inward from the surface. At conditions of at least 75 deg F(24 deg C) and 50% relative humidity, the sealant forms a tack-free skin within 20 minutes. Tooling is not practical after this skin begins forming, and should be completed within 5 to 10 minutes of application, even though this may require alternate periods of applying and tooling. If masking tape has been used to mark off an area, it should also be removed before the skin forms. Cure time is affected by relative humidity, degree of confinement, and cross-sectional thickness of the sealant. Sections up to 1/8 inch thick become rubbery solids in about 24 hours at room temperature at 20% relative humidity. Less moisture content reduces it slightly. In 72 hours, sections up to 1/8 inch thick cure to a rubber with a Shore A of 30.
